Fish-Kill, October 25. Camp, Peek's-Kill, October 18, 1781.
Yesterday the anniversary of the surrender of General
Burgoyne's army was celebrated by the officers of the 3d
Massachusetts brigade, in a manner which would have given
satisfaction to any gentlemen who are sensible of the
important events of that day. . . [9 lines] An elegant
concert of music attended the entertainment; and after
dinner the following toasts were drank. . . [13 toasts,
followed by an ode:] While scenes of transport, every
breast inspire,
   The muse too triumphs in her kindling fire;
   Blest in their bliss, she lifts a bolder wing,
   Aids ev'ry wish, and tunes the harp to sing;
   To their glad concert wakes th' accordant strain,
   And mingles with the music of the plain.
